Excellent Resource, Interesting Reading,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Polish Customs, Traditions, and Folklore (Hardcover)
I chose this book to try and get a flavor of Polish customs for some projects I was writing on, and I was so pleased to find a treasure trove of the Polish heritage. This book is a goldmine. It's easy to read, and not necessary to read straight through. It covers all the feasts during the year, broken down by months, then it includes birth and death customs and Polish games and Pastimes for Children. My only "regret" is that when different Polish dishes or menus were mentioned that no recipes were given, but I guess that would have to be another volume. I highly recommend this book!

We purchsed this volume, also, found it to be extremely interesting. Just a caution- Poland was mainly Jewish for a very long time. --- many writings do not reflect this due to the long history, pogroms, etc. the necessity to hide, publicly embrace Catholicism to sve one's life. Along with such excellent books as these, do a side by side of research into Polish Jews, etc.The borders with russia were very fluid, fell underdifferent rules at different periods.
