Performs great especially after ROM upgrade. Some have wifi issue,
This review is from: SANOXY® MK808 Dual Core Android TV BOX Rockchip RK3066 Cortex-A9 Mini PC Smart TV Stick (Personal Computers)I bought 3 of these as Christmas gifts after I tested one for myself. I was able to play a 13GB mkv file off a windows share on my network without an issue (use ES File Explorer). Netflix works well, so does YouTube. MX Player indicates that it is using Hardware Decoding so performance is not a problem.
Some users reported wifi issues. Those have two solutions:
1. Get a USB to ethernet adapter from Amazon for $17. Search for: Android USB Ethernet. Make sure that ths adapter is for USB 2.0 for faster speed.
2. If you can't get an ethernet cable to your TV then you can likely fix it by opening the mk808 and removing the ground cable for the two wifi antennas. Search Google or YouTube for "mk808 finless ROM". Bob, the maker of the ROM made a video documenting the issue and how to fix it.
You should also upgrade to the Finless ROM v.1.5a or newer for a whole bunch of reasons such as having 2GB for application installation, root access, more Google Play store access, cleaned up some Chinese crap ware, etc.
Update 12/25/2012: I found that some of my .mkv videos are encoded with dts audio and that MX Player does not have the plugin to decode it anymore. You will need to search for the codec on forums and add it to MX player as a custom codec. Or you might find another video player altogether.

re: your comment about 'fixing' wifi internal antenna issue. Just wondering if this is referring to the old single antenna units or also the newer dual antenna models (new dual from add info). Just wondering. Thanks for your post.

Andrei Tamas says:
The fix is for the new mk808 with dual wifi antennas. Again I would suggest going the USB to ethernet after route if possible. But if you need to go over wifi then try the fix. It involves opening the unit and disconnecting the ground wire which apparently causes a short after too much heat.
I saw the fix on freaktab.com (look under Android TV, mk808) which is where I got Bob's Finless ROM from. I see he has v1.6 now out which I haven't tried yet.

Steve C says:
Where did you find any firmware upgrades? I've never been able to find any upgrades anywhere for these things! None that work anyway. There are a few but then lots of warning that wi-fi, etc. will not work after installing them like with the MK808 - Finless 1.6 Custom ROM.

You can find the site that hosts the Finless rom by googling it but I am hesitant without good clear instructions to try and take a chance on bricking the thing. It plays now and don't want to risk that until I am a bit clearer about the process and which is the correct install for this chipset/unit.

Thanks for that info Andrei. I will check the site. I have my box about 8 feet from the router and it is showing 3 out of 4 bars which is fine for this location but possibly not for the other end of the house and that is why I wanted the clarification on the antenna issue. Thanks again.
