How can you not like these?,

This review is from: Cyber Acoustics Subwoofer Satellite System (CA-3602a) (Electronics)I am more of a book reviewer than a product reviewer but felt the need to chime in here.
For $40, this is an excellent value. Sure, I certainly wouldn't qualify as an "audiophile", but I do know what sounds good. All ranges, bass, mid, treble on these speakers are of decent quality with these speakers.
I have these hooked up to two Macs, also using Joesoft's Hear, a sound enhancement program that perks up the fullness of the sound (and yes, right, somewhat artificially). Most likely, using this will forever bar me from ever becoming an audiophile but who cares when the sound is fully adequate at such a low cost. (Update: I have found Bongiovi's Digital Power Station, which works with iTunes, as a less intrusive sound amplifier that makes these speakers even better.)
I also own a set of Logitech Z-2300 THX-Certified 2.1 Speakers, which are also of good value. But for $70 more I am not sure they are that much superior to the Cyber Acoustics unless you love earth-shaking bass in your movies and music. The CA's also have great bass and if you are not a bass addict, they offer easy controls to dial it down.
Unless you are a demanding audiophile, I don't think you can go wrong buying these (and certainly audiophile quality comes at a much higher cost). If nothing else, attach them to the backroom TV or computer and you have a cost-effective backup sound system.
But realistically, those usually working at a computer station want decent sound quality at a cheap price. Let me know if you find something better. Technology is certainly getting better and better.

The Logitech speakers will have more "thump" but the Cyber Acoustics aren't too shabby either. The Logitech's subwoofer is bigger but if room is not a concern they sound good. The Logitechs can really vibrate the room at higher volume.
If you have a Mac, you'll want Joesoft's Hear (or the PC equivalent). That software can really make the bass intense with either set of speakers.
