Nice boot - Poor eyelets,
This review is from: Sorel Men's Cold Mountain Boot (Apparel)
I bought these boots at the local Fleet Farm about a month ago to be used as "day to day" boots for Wisconsin winters. (I've got a big heavy pair that I wear for snowblowing and walking through deep snow.) I chose these boots over another pair because I liked the "looser" fit to allow for thicker socks on cold days.
Our area hasn't recieved much snow so I didn't get a chance to wear them until I went to Upper Michigan last week.
As I was lacing them up, I noticed that the laces did not run very freely through the eyelets. They felt like they were "snagging" on something as I pulled them tight.
The third time I put the boots on, two of the eyelets split open as I pulled the laces snug. I'm not a big burly bull-in-a-china-shop kind of guy. This was just snugging the boots up to tie them normally.
My overall impression of this boot is that it appears to be a decent, warm boot. It appears to be sized a bit wider than most - which I like about them. If the eyelets were of a better quality, this would be a very nice boot. As it is, I have to return them since winter boots that can't be laced up are pretty much useless.
