Comprehensive analysis with clear vision for the future,
This review is from: Fair Food: Growing a Healthy, Sustainable Food System for All (Hardcover)
Surprisingly readable, Hesterman does his due diligence to objectively and comprehensively map out the existing food system, clearly describing where it is out of balance and in need of redesign. Upon this foundation he provides a tangible vision for a redesigned (Fair) Food System with real life models and examples gathered from over 30 years of experience in the field. It is refreshingly apolitical and accessible to anyone interested in simply learning more about the where their food comes from and how to access alternative food markets(i.e. csa's, farmers markets, etc) or interested in becoming more involved in the movement to redesign the system to bring more healthy food to all demographics of our population in an environmentally and socially responsible way. It should be considered requisite reading on the subject and serve as a tool box for individuals and activists alike.
