This review is from: The Hero of Ages: Book Three of Mistborn (Mass Market Paperback)
After looking forward to this finale to the trilogy for over a year, perhaps my expectations were too high. Suffice it to say I'm disappointed. Aside from the fact that hardly anything happens in the first half, the characters (those that are left) are scattered and thus unable to further their relationships in any meaningful way, and Vin and Elend's marriage has faded into flatness, it was ultimately the ending that just plain didn't work for me. The explosion into over-the-top epicness isn't a bad thing by any means, and I do respect Sanderson's world-building and his ability to tie off all the questions and loose ends so perfectly, but the final solution just left me feeling flat. The book as a whole I would rate three stars. I don't generally get upset over disappointing endings, but perhaps because I loved the first book so much, I can't help but be extra disappointed with this one.
