Filter clogs too much to be useful,

This review is from: Shop-Vac 9633400 6.5-Peak HP Ultra Pro Series 12-Gallon Wet or Dry Vacuum with Detachable Blower (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this shop vac to replace my 29 year-old Craftsman vac that finally gave up the ghost.
I am extremely disappointed in this thing, since the canister filter clogs so easily. My old Craftsman had a large filter with deep pleats and would run forever without clogging. This new Shop-Vac canister filter is a lot smaller with very tight pleats. As a result, if you are vacuuming something dusty (duh!) the filter quickly clogs and the suction power goes away.
I think this is a fundamental design flaw and I would not recommend this product. Maybe I can find a replacement fan somewhere and repair my old vac.

Just fyi, there are other filter (types) that are available for the Shop-Vac line...and the premium filters do not clog anywhere near as quickly as the base filter. For drywall and similar fine dust, I always use a bag + cartridge - much cleaner and easier.
