This review is from: Dry: A Memoir (Paperback)
This books hits very close to home, even though Augusten is a generation younger, his battle with the bottle was very like mine. Unfortunately, mine wasn't nearly as hilarious as his--so hilarious in fact that my only quibble with the book is that it makes drinking sound so glamorous and seductive that people might want to drink themselves silly every night just to experience the congenial gay bootcamp experience of the Proud Institute. The writing is consistently brilliant and laugh-out-loud funny, as well as a convincing cautionary tale about the dangers of self-delusion and (its twin sister) self-loathing.
