Stealing Fire is engaging,
Susan Sloate does a wonderful job of getting into the head of her male character, his voice shining through. I especially like the vivid action as Beau is driving - how he's taking the curves, leaning into them, comfortable and thrilled - and what he's thinking along the way.
Without the Prologue, the chapter begins rather slowly but once we understand the background, it's definitely much easier to see what's happening and get a glimpse of what lies ahead.
The pace of the story really picks up just about where the excerpt ends, unfortunately. And it leaves one wanting to know what comes next for Beau, Jules and the other characters.
