horrible product, horrible customer service

We received this cheap, badly constructed, malfunctioning box of trouble as a gift. After running for several months, it simply quit. All the lights were brightly lit, telling us that it was just fine, thank you very much, but as the food inside not only thawed, but began to run, melt, and reach the 90s, (tis hot in Chicago) the food inside soon reached the same, smelly, temps as garbage in dump.
When I called Haier, they refused to even listen to the serial number, and when I repeatedly said, "IT WAS A GIFT" they denied that they would honor their warranty, without a receipt from my purchase. They refused to take my name, my address, but they were willing to give me the number of a repair company.
Wait! It gets better. Honestly. I called the repair company. Gave them name, number, serial number, and asked them to send a repair man. "Sure, just one thing. What model number is it?" After I gave them this model number, they apologized, "We don't work on those model numbers."
Do not trust their products. Do not trust their customer service. Do not have anything to do with this company.
