This review is from: The Art of War: A Graphic Novel (Paperback)
Unable to boast the same credentials as Sonshi, perhaps this review should be taken with a pinch of salt. That said, this is a brilliant graphic novel of epic proportions while remaining true to Sun Tzu's treatise. In fact, it is so mind-blowing throughout that it has inspired my first ever online review. Much like the original text itself, you cannot just browse through "The Art of War - A Graphic Novel" (Amazon, where's the option to italicize, eh?) as each picture, every line, are rich poems unto themselves. So once finished the book screams out for a second (and third...) read to make you sure haven't missed anything, which you probably have. Kelly Roman is the Martin Amis of graphic novels (there is no higher compliment) and he has found an absolute gem in Michael DeWeese to bring his stunningly dark visions to life. I cannot recommend this book highly enough to seasoned readers of graphic novels and neophytes alike, specifically the print version as you will want to hold this beauty to ensure optimal immersion. The only question is: Hollywood, can you do it justice? You know you want to.
