AN ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL MOVIE,

This animated feature is the best I've seen from Disney Studios in many years. It is more than a Disney update of a classic fairy tale, it is a complete reworking. The original story by The Brother's Grimm is only 3 ˝ pages in length. As you can imagine, a lot had to be added to make it into a 140 minute move. What was added makes the story considerably more exciting than the original, with an action scene that Indiana Jones would be proud of; in fact it looks a lot like a similar scene from Raiders. The villainess is one of the vilest characters in Disney history, while the heroine is one of the most vulnerable and loveable. The hero is a typical anti-hero that turns good for the sake of love, but who can blame him; Rapunzel is absolutely charming. The scene with the floating lanterns is gorgeous. Even the animal characters are perfect, as good those in Cinderella. The Pixar animation is, as promised, much softer than previous Pixar films: cloths look like fabric and Rapinzel's hair looks like hair. Everything in this movie works including the surprise ending, which I won't give away. A must see for Disney fans.

Joseph R. Wood says:
Strictly speaking this movie does not have "Pixar" animation. I think it is more correct to say it has CG (or CGI) animation which Pixar (a separate studio from Walt Disney Animation but now owned by Walt Disney Corp.) pioneered in using in feature length animated movies. I think Walt Disney Animation Studios has taken CG animation to a new level in this movie compared to CG animation from Pixar Studios. Hopefully that will benefit both studios.
