I just do a general go-over with a spatula, just to get the brunt of the surface batter off, then I soak it in warm, soapy water for about 15-20 minutes, then go over it with the sprayer attachment at high pressure. This will take off all the visible batter very quickly and easily. Finally, I use the dish brush with soapy water to clean off any oily/greasy residue. Works like a charm every time!
The trick is to not get too attached to getting every last bit of batter off when you remove the paddle. I used to want to get every little bit out of all the nooks and crannies with a slim spatula. That's the time-consuming part. So I gave up on the obsessive need to "not waste", reached for a broad spatula instead and, in doing so, made my cleanup (and life) a whole lot easier. :)
