I'm buying another,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Presto 04821 Orville Redenbacher's Hot Air Popper (Kitchen)
Nothing last forever.
Presto has been making this popper for a long time. I bought one about 15 years ago, and use it maybe once a week. Makes wonderful popcorn, evenly popped, no burning, no oils, just great popcorn. You do need to put a big bowl under it and turn the bowl, but with this slight attention, there is no mess.
The popper died last night -- motor burned out. But how many consumer devices last 15 years? I got my money's worth.
So, I'm buying another one today. Why try something else when this works so well?

This person is commenting about a popcorn popper that was bought 15 years ago. I'm sure the popper has changed in 15 years. It does me no good to know how good of a popcorn popper a company has made 15 years previous to the one I want to buy. Not helpful at all...

savedbygrace, it is in fact a helpful and relevant review. The design has not changed in 15 years.

I have the exact same scenario! My Presto popper just died yesterday after more 15 years of solid service. We've loved ours. Buying another one right now!

My stir crazy died and I decided to try the Orville hot air popper; it's way too noisy and it really doesn't get all the kernels popped. I find it a bit dangerous as when you think it's done a single kernel will jump out and it's hot especially if it hits your eyes. Will be returning it to the store. Very dissatisfied with the product. I'll go back to the stir crazy.

Well. The model out now in 2011 is of the poorest quality. Read some of the 1 star reviews. Don't even try to reason with Presto on concerns with their product. The will simply tell you to send the new product back to them, at your expense, and when they receive it, they will give you a credit of 40% of the price you paid, shown on the receipt your provide them.

Update: the replacement popper I bought in 2004 is still working, FWIW.

This product wasn't even made 15 years ago. Your review is misleading.

Another proof of time machines I guess.
