Update! 7/30 Great, but be cautious. Read entire review...,
This review is from: GoPro The Frame for HERO3+ (Electronics)
After a week of no response, I called GoPro direct and spoke with a service rep. Got thru in about 5 minutes. He was incredibly helpful and said that their emails have been overwhelming. He assigned my case number to himself and requested a few photos which I have no problems sending. Said they would send out a replacement right away once they receive the photos. It sounds like a warranty issue.
I'll check fitment of the new one and perhaps modify the bumper if it is still too tight.
Bottom line, GoPro stands behinds it's products.
So I am rating it 5 stars. 4 for the case plus extra credit for customer service!!
PS, the GoPro Jaws Flex Clamp is awesome!! Every Gopro owner should have one!
About 1 month ago (June 22nd) I purchased a Hero 3+ Black Edition and have been very impressed with it. About a week later (June 28th) I purchased The Frame (newest version) as I didn't always need the full case. I have used it exclusively over the past 3 weeks and have only removed the camera 2-3 times. Since the first time I put the camera in the the frame, I noticed that the rubber bumper above the HDMI and USB ports exerts significant force on the camera. The product photos don't show this, but trust me, it does. Presumably to keep the tension on the clasp and to keep the camera from rattling. However, that much tension bulges out the frame at the weakest spot, stresses the plastic, and in a very short time has caused hairline cracks to occur on the frame in 4 places. They become apparent when you clip the frame shut. My concern is that the cracks will simply continue to progress from the constant stress, get deeper and fail without notice. This could happen within the next week at the rate of failure. Possibly destroying it and leaving an expensive accessory useless.
A solution could be to remove the rubber bumper which seems too thick for this point but I do not know what that might do the fitment. At this point, it is still cracked and will eventually fail.
The functionality is great and the lens cover is awesome.
So, yes the case may be better than the original, but its durability is questionable.
