Great 3D laptop,
This review is from: Sony VAIO VPC-F215FX/BI 16-Inch 3D Laptop (Black) (Personal Computers)
Tried a few different 3D pc all in one, desktop, laptop models. By far Sony has the best. With Sony 3D technology built in the HD 1080p screen and Sony 3D glasses, nothing else on the market compares. Backlit keyboard is great. Blu ray 3d movies and games are awesome on this machine. Stay away from Nvidia 3D glasses they are so dark, its not worth it plus lots of ghosting going on. With Sony no ghosting and they come with the same 3D glasses you would get if you bought one of thier 3D tv's. Not dark at all, no ghosting. Was able to transfer my old files on my old laptop with ease simply using a network cable and sonys transfer program. Customer service was great when I had a few questions on the 3D capability. The sony's program that updates patches and firmware automatically makes it a worry free process. You can connect to a HDMI port on your tv and run 3D if your tv is 3D or just HD 1080P. So you can use this as a 3d blu ray player aswell. Has the latest parts in it, so as far as computing functionality its more then enough. Very light weight for its size. I saw the other review with the refresh rate issue, I do not have this problem nor do I have to mess with the refresh rates at all. When doing something in 3D it switches automatically, so this is a worry free process. The speakers could have been of better quality, but atleast they are loud. They could have used more bass, but really a minor issue otherwise this laptop has been rock solid. Love it. Sony VAIO VPC-F215FX/BI 16-Inch 3D Laptop (Black)

I agree I love my new Vaio 3D vpcf2190x but there is one major problem with the black gloss finish...Is your also showing scratches and fingerprints like crazy,
I have had my vaio less than 3 weeks and it is already showing little scratches, called sales support, they are sending me a cleaner kit for free. they said this might help. I am just so concerned about how this unit is going to hold up and look in 2 to 3 months from now, wish they would address the problem, Rep advised me to go ahead and buy the accidental protection warranty and that would cover the housing, if it gets to many scratches on it, they would replace the housing with a new one. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks for your post. Also I have been trying to find a clear shell case to cover it with like my macbook and I am not having any luck from any 3rd party vendors.

Hi David, I am not worried about the shell. I had a similiar laptop and it held up well overtime. I am not worried about a extend warranty I replace my laptops every 3-4 years anyway. The guts on this laptop will last who cares about the cosmetic effects thats bound to happen with any of them. That's great that they sent you the cleaner for free. Yes I would just buy a protective case for it that would solve your problem. I just picked up the skin for the keyboard works great with the backlit keyboard cust the light down to about 40% but I can still see the keys fine. But it will help keep the crap from getting in the keyboard and feels cool. Keep looking for the case I'm sure there is one out there somewhere or you might be able to have one made for it. I do love this laptop 3D is better then anything I have seen on the market.

Hi it comes with Sony 3d glasses. Its a 7200rpm drive. The machine is awesome and way ahead of the rest specially in 3d.

Hi again, you know.. I like the sony 3d, but then I saw this: ASUS G74SX-3DE 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop - Republic of Gamers (Black) how do you campare it? it seems that the asus configuration plus 3d is better than the sony vaio f3d... or the HP ENVY 3D appear with better configuration, im confused..

Stay away from those, I looked at both of those when I was searching too. The problem with all other models except for Sony models is they use the Nvidia glasses and technology. Nvidia only makes the glasses and pc software. I have tried it out and its a shame I dont know how they get away with selling it. Why is Sony much better, Sony makes the led or lcd screens on top of there own technology with the glasses. They make the screens at a much higher refreshrate (the sony laptop runs at 240hz) Which makes it much brighter and crisper in 3d then anything and I mean anything out there. All other 3d pc's run at a 120hz which is a very dark picture with ghosting. 3d tv's have more manufactures making 3d but Sony beats them out in that area too. Let me know if this helps. You can't go wrong with Sony stay away from the others I tested them and you will be greatly disappointed by buying one.

R. Voorhees says:
The reason the picture in 3d is so good is because Sony uses the 240 MHz rate to layer a complete black screen between each left and right image so that there is absolutely ZERO crosstalk/ghosting. It's a great idea and it really makes the 3d superior to any 3d laptop and even most 3d tvs. Good review!
