Dull, empty stories,
This review is from: The Angel Esmeralda: Nine Stories (Hardcover)
These stories are surprisingly dull and empty. Peopled by anonymous, shapeless characters who have no character, they read like exercises for a freshman creative writing class and I felt that I should be making marginal notes for the benefit of the young, would-be writer. But that would have been an even greater chore than reading the stories.

Negative, utterly dismissive reviews, where nothing good can be said about a particular work by a renowned author, make me want to read the work in question: it must be good in order to provoke such an extremely reactive criticism.
