What no Memory Card?,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Canon PowerShot ELPH135 Digital Camera (Purple) (Electronics)
NOTE: very last line of write up "USB Cable, Video Cable, SD Card and Solutions Disk Not Included."
Canon has always been a favorite of mine but I was disappointed to give this as a gift to my Mom for Mother's Day as her older Canon PowerShot was lost. All excited to take photos on this occasion when she opened it and revved it up but without a memory card it's worthless. Why not include a starter card at least?

No camera comes with a memory card unless it is included in a kit. You can buy a $6000 pro dslr and it doesn't come with a card. Remember film cameras? They didn't come with film.

I don't think that's a fair review of the camera. It's standard for new cameras not to include external memory. And the item description wasn't misleading, as it stated that these items weren't included. People come here to get a review on the camera's performance, which you did not provide.

Couldn't you just buy a SD Card? SD Cards aren't that expensive online.

I think it will take up to 32 GB. That's what Cannon says. I would use a class 10 card if your going to take video.

You snobs bashing jemada19 don't even consider that it isn't an expensive camera and someone not knowledgeable about cameras might just want to get something nice for Mom. All excited, she got disappointed. Cameras are not my thing, but as a gift for someone on Father's Day, hell yes!!!, jemada19 helped! I wouldn't have thought I had to buy a memory card. You know-it-alls don't think of everything.

What, this is Mom's first device to use a USB card, and that's why she doesn't already have one? For heaven's sake, why didn't you order a $5 8GB SD card for your Mama? Don't blame this on Canon!
Sheesh, Canon is smart enough to know that just about *everyone* has an extra SD card (or 5) laying around, and they figure (rightly) this is one less piece of unwanted paraphernalia to lay about in people's desk drawers -- the cost of which would be passed on to all of Canon's customers. 10 years ago, when the SD card was new, it may have made sense to include one with each camera. But those days are LOOOOONG gone. These days, SD cards (or microSD cards) are everywhere, and that's why SD card readers are standard, built-in equipment with every laptop on the market (instead of an add-on option).
The same logic applies to standard USB cables. If you use a computer, you'll probably already have USB cables of appropriate lengths to suit your needs -- and you don't need an extra one (which you pay for, by the way) in the camera box.
