4.0 out of 5 stars Using it with Kindle Fire -- plusses and minuses, November 15, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kindle Fire Genuine Leather Cover by Marware, Brown (will not fit HD or HDX models) (Accessory)
I wanted a case that doubled as a stand and this fit the bill. Other option is the hard shell case which didn't appeal to me. The leather is nice enough, looks relatively elegant. The whole thing is a little thicker than I would have liked but then again so is the Fire. The Kindle snaps right in easily and is quite secure. I spent a few minutes trying to figure out how to make it into a stand (it's not obvious AT ALL) but you have to look at the picture carefully. You need to un-snap one corner of the Fire from the case and rest it on the interior cover like the picture. It's not very intuitive but it works fine. It's a bit limited in angles you can use but it will be fine I think. Overall I like the case. Not love, but like. It came very quickly -- one day shipping even though I did not pay for it.

Greetings,
I can't figure out how to make this cover work as a stand in portrait mode. There's a photo for landscape and I figured that out. The product description says it will work as a stand in both conditions. Since you mentioned the stand function in your review I thought perhaps you may have figured this out.

I appreciated your review and agree with your views. I think it's a very nice, stylish, and if it will stand in portrait, functional case. Hope you're enjoying you're new Fire as muuch as I'm enjoying mine! :-)

there is no portrait mode stand for this cover. It has a strap for holding it in portrait mode, but I see no description for using it as a stand in portrait mode

You're right but I'm not sure you'd ever really need to have it standing in portrait mode. Movies are landscape. I'm sure there are scenarios I haven't thought of but I don't see this as a huge omission.

Actually, I contacted Marware and they explained how to stand it in portrait mode. It is actually shown in the picture. It's basically when it's just barely opened as a book...too simple to figure out; at least for me :-) Take a look at the picture, I think it's the last one or next to the last one.

I got this one and I love it. For $11 it seems very close to the Marware case.
