Heavy by nature, but a great book!,

This review is from: Mystical Body, Mystical Voice: Encountering Christ in the Words of the Mass (Paperback)
Great book, but this is not a casual read! The book is very heavy on theology and a review of the sacramental nature of the Mass and Liturgy.
It is a very inspiring book in its own right, as is to be expected, considering the nature of the subject material. Where else do we go to intersect our Creator as directly as at Mass?
The book is well planned and executed, with thorough reviews of the theology involved - Sacramentality, Ecclesiology, Inculturation, Eschatology, and Mystagogy (my favorite section).
This book not only prepares Catholics for the changes in the new Roman Missal by explaining why the words have changed, but it is a great brush-up on the logic and procession of the Mass rites, the character and origin of the liturgical vernacular and ties together how the Mass has developed and has been worshiped from OT through NT times.
Recommended for any Catholic who wants a step up from a typical "why should I go to Mass?" or "what's this Mass stuff" level of discernment, this book has the potential to open up the reader's mind to a deeper understanding of why it is such a profound privilege to be Catholic.
