This book is a winner for any follower of Urban Fantasy. My favorite part of the story is Lux's uncertain relationship with her kidnapping and her kidnapper. Lux's abductor, Feardorcha, is attractive, rich and dangerous to others but rarely dangerous to Lux. He attempts to keep his hold on Lux psychologically more than physically, as long as she behaves. Lux plots her escape from the luxurious captivity to protect the power she has inherited as a member of an age-old society of firestarters called the Luminita. Three of Lux's friends and members of the Luminita pursue Lux's abductor hoping to rescue her. Along the way, they encounter pesky twin detectives and a cannibal zombie named Rogue. The story ends in the opposite direction from which it began as Lux uses her powers to save the one she loves at the place where it all began. Captive is a superbly written fantasy thriller. Although I don't usually read this type of book; the author's mastery of words captivated me.
