Love thinkThin Bars but these were so stale!,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: thinkThin Chunky Peanut Butter, Gluten Free, 2.1-Ounce Bars (Pack of 10) (Grocery)
I love thinkThin bars (especially the chunky peanut butter) and buy them all the time at Trader Joe's. When Amazon had a "Deal of the Day" for them at a discounted price, I immediately ordered two boxes (and signed up for a subscription because their price seemed a little better than Trader Joe's.) Unfortunately, the two boxes of Thinkthin bars I received were so stale they were inedible - the bar was covered with a white powder and fell apart into dusty crumbs when I broke off a piece to check the inside condition. Like an idiot, I actually decided to taste the bar just to make sure the appearance was not deceiving - I really do love these bars and my mouth was watering for one! YUCK - the taste was horrible and I couldn't seem to wash it away! Amazon doesn't allow food returns, so I've contacted customer service and asked for my money back. I want a full refund - and I've cancelled my subscription. So, buyer beware - thinkThin bars are great, but you apparently have to be careful where you buy them. And sometimes a seemingly great "deal of the day" is not that great.

Odd. I ordered the same flavor on the same day. I had never tried this brand, but was tempted by Amazon's "deal of the day" pricing.
My box of bars isn't stale, at least not the half I've eaten so far. There is no powdery appearance on the outside of the bars. Far from being dry or crumbly, I remarked in my review that these bars are more moist and creamy than other brands I've tried.
Either Amazon happens to have a batch of these that were stored and/or manufactured improperly -- and some unlucky customers are receiving those bars while others are receiving good bars -- or there are wildly different perceptions about what's dry versus moist and what tastes good versus bad.

I would also like to add that Amazon has one of the best customer service departments I have ever dealt with. I have purchased items that were damaged. They immediately sent me a new one and told me to keep the one I had. I have had other encounters with the customer service department and have always been satisfied with the outcome. Jasmine should contact them I am sure they will fix the problem.

I also love these - and the ones I got were stale as well. Too bad. Getting them from my health food store again.

I had the same problem with another food product several years ago and Amazon refused to replace the rancid bars. Amazon seems to have a different customer service policy for food than for electronics, CDs, etc. I've become very wary of buying food from them. I agree that, other than food, their customer service policy and practice is great.
