1.0 out of 5 stars anti-catholicism at it's best, April 18, 2012
This review is from: Catholicism & Christianity (Hardcover)
A book written by a total ignorant hypocrite like Swaggart could only get other intolerant bigots like himself to purchase it. He devotes his ministry to attacking other religions to take the focus off of his own shortcomings. Watch his Sonlife Broadcast Network on television. Each show is devoted to picking apart a different religious denomination each day, with a little anti-Catholic rhetoric inserted into each episode no matter which religion him and his panel is attacking. Is that the Christian way? Pick the beam out of your own eye before taking the speck from your neighbors,Jimmy. Instead of cutting down Catholics, Muslims, and Mormons, why not focus on some social issues like the slaughter of millions of babies by abortion? The Catholic Church is in the forefront in that battle Jimmy. The Catholic Church as the worlds leading human service organisation has helped the poor, sick, and downtrodden members of society. It has done so without attacking members of other religions, and even helps people of "no"religion.

I haven't read Mr. Swaggerts book yet but I have attended the Roman Catholic Church for over 2 years. During my attendance I have seen the Eucharist withheld from those whom "the church" doesn't deem worthy to receive when scripture specifically says not to do, CONSTANT repetitions of various prayers including the Rosary, priests called "Father", the churches own catechism stating that Gods word CANNOT stand without the magesterium(Pope and his bishops), that the Pope has "COMPLETE AND TOTAL control over ALL souls on earth(catechism), Mary has been given the title of "Queen of Heaven", that not attending church on sunday ia a GRAVE sin, that as catholic one MUST believe EVERYTHING the magisterium says and much more.
I will read Mr. Swaggarts book but not to "take down" the CC but to learn the truth of what both is and isn't being said. Truth is truth and I do bel;ieve the CC is part of the true church as well as all other Christian denominations. But I do also believe many are making some Grievous mistakes when it comes to scripture and truth. It wouldn't surprise me that Swaggarts book is biased but it still needs to be weighed in the light of truth (scripture). All of the above comments I made in reference to the RCC came from both the catechism AND personal observation. In addition, the RCC refers to muslims as those who "together with us adore the one merciful God." REALLY??? Scripture itself tells us that ANYONE WHO DOES NOT ACCEPT CHRIST is antichrist, and Jesus said himself that if we do not have him neither do we have the Father.
Maybe we all need to read more scripture and far less books telling us ABOUT scripture and TRULY LISTEN to what our Bibles tell us (above all else)!!!

"total ignorant hypocrite "

You might want to look in the mirror.

How did fallible cardinals vote the pope infallible? Mr. Swaggart never burned anyone at the stake for having a Holy Bible or because they had translated the Bible into English.

I think to call you ignorant, sir, would be an understatement with you sir.

Well, if "only bigots would buy this book," then one of two things must be true: either you bought the book, which makes you a bigot by your own words; or, you haven't read the book, which means that you are spouting off without actually having examined the facts. That, too, makes you a bigot.
