the Peanut bar,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: KIND PLUS, Almond Walnut Macadamia + Protein, Gluten Free Bars (Pack of 12) (Grocery)I was looking forward to receiving this order. Almonds, macadamias, and walnuts! Sounded delicious.
Then I tried one, and was puzzled. Yes, I could taste some almond, but WOW, the main flavor was PEANUTS. The ingredients list peanuts as the largest amount of nuts. This should be called the Peanut, Almond Bar. If one likes to have the main flavor of a nut bar as peanuts, you will enjoy this.
The quality of KIND products I appreciate, as well as the low GI, the natural properties, and having a healthier choice. But honesty in advertising and product would be appreciated.
I was disappointed with the deception, and the unexpectedly strong flavor of peanuts, as I purchased it for the nuts I like best, which were supposed to be the main source of nut protein.
Let's get honest KIND!

Whole heartedly agree with this comment. I got my KIND fruit and nut delight bar yesterday..and all I can taste is peanuts and honey.

Thanks for the validation! I have moved on trying to find other, better bars. I may have to start making my own!
Have a nice holiday season,
to your health,

was equally disappointed in the deceptive description ... bought a box, and could not see the actual bar. Once opened, I could see it was mostly peanuts. I didn't even realize there were peanuts until I looked very closely at the almost invisible ("with peanuts") lettering.

The current (1/2013) ingredients listed on Kindbar's website, and here on Amazon do NOT list peanuts. Perhaps they changed the formulation. Nonetheless, your comments and review helped me decide to look at other brands, and perhaps make my own bars.

Dear M C: (1/23/13)
I just checked the product site here on Amazon, and it says this:
" Mixed Nuts (Peanuts, Almonds, Walnuts, Macadamias, Cashews, Brazil Nuts), Honey, Glucose, Soy Crisps (Soy Protein Isolate, Tapioca Starch, Salt) Soluble Dietary Fiber (Maize), Natural Flavour VITAMINS: Vitamin A Acetate, Ascorbic Acid (Vit. C). D-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate (Vit. E) "
It is listed under 'Ingredients' under the description main heading.
I think I did contact KIND and politely asked them about the mix. I did not get a reply from them.
Since my original post, there are far more bars out there to choose from, as well as easy recipes to make our own. The ingredients, such as chicory, or inulin, soy crisps, etc., can now be purchased from websites or health food stores. (these ingredients are often used to increase fiber, keep GI lower, and add structure.)
It makes it much easier to try to replicate a bar one likes in particular.
I often make some of just oats, nuts, coconut, and a binder. I love my own best!
