The start of the rock mission,
This review is from: Born Suspect (Audio CD)
Born Suspect can at times be a little hard to get hold of and it's certainly not in the major circulation of later works Roll With The New and Bigger and Blacker.
However that's a shame as it comprises a number of sketches that relate directly to that later material. As well as the anecdotes and examination of everyday life that most good comics do Rock also has a social conscience side to his humour that puts him in a slightly different category. On this album that side of him gets a good workout as he discusses things such as minimum wage, legal hassles and the difference between crime committed by whites and black people.
Of course, this is a Chris Rock release so your going to cop an absolute earful of offensive language. But if you are prepared for that then you will get a good look at this chaps early aural assaults.
