Not at all what I was afraid of.....,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When I buy products I'm not personally familiar with, I read the reviews...which is one reason why I buy a LOT on Amazon...the reviews and ease of comparison with other similar products. I read all the reviews on this product and was a bit concerned I might not like it, but decided to try it anyway. I need to lose weight and have painful arthritis in one hip. I'm trying to cut down on foods that cause inflammation to lessen the pain levels. I've been on almost every diet there is and have found it difficult to give up so much of the food I love. So, when I read about Miracle Noodles I was a bit skeptical...0 calories??? 0 carbs??? Gluten free??? How could that be???
Well..I was very pleased with my first attempt at cooking with these. First of all...when I opened the package, expecting a dreadful odor (per other reviewers), I was quite pleasantly surprised that I couldn't detect any odor at all...perhaps that was an anomaly, but there it is!!! (BTW...I have a pretty good sense of smell, so that wasn't the reason I wasn't smelling the "fishy" odor other reviewers stressed.) I prepared the fettuccini noodles, as instructed, and tasted one. Truly, they have no taste by themselves. The texture is a bit like a soft gummy...I certainly wouldn't call them "slimy." I cut up a chicken breast and some onions and garlic and sauteed them in some extra-virgin olive oil, seasoning with salt, pepper and Bragg's Liquid Amino (which tastes like a very mild, far less salty, soy sauce or tamari, for those not acquainted with it), and stirred in the noodles after they had been drained and placed on paper towels (there was no sticking to the pan I "cooked" them in or to the paper towels...nice!!!) I REALLY enjoyed the meal...it was satisfying, and I felt "comfortably full". The noodles took on the flavors of the rest of the mixture. I ate them for breakfast (strange breakfast...I know... :) ) and wasn't hungry for the rest of the day, but ate a late supper when my husband arrived home after a meeting (after 9 pm).
I am looking forward to trying the rice and angel hair. I'm sure that Miracle Noodles will become part of my diet...water soluble fiber and no calories??? Rock ON!!!! I'll be looking at the other product this company offers!!!
