This review is from: Jawbone ERA Bluetooth Headset - Shadowbox - Retail Packaging (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Length:: 2:07 Mins

More than a headset that "sounds good for a headset", this sounds good... period. It's easy to use, comes with a good set of well designed accessories, and can either be uses right out of the box or customized to satisfy your inner-geek.

The attached video shows the headset, the included accessories, and provides an audio sample of how the headset sounds to someone at the other end of the call.

More details:

- It works well with my iPhone4 voice commands and voice dialing
- It provides full music control, fast forward, pause, and rewind
- Five hours of talk time and days of standby on a charge
- Charges in under an hour using a standard micro-usb connector to either the supplied charger or a USB port
- A short charging cable is included. (Short is good for portability)
- Pairs easily, literally with a few shakes (that's how you tell it to go to pairing mode, you shake it a few times.
- No problem downloading firmware updates and new voices from the Jawbone MyTalk website

Additional thoughts:

The sound is so good I've started using this headset in the office while listening to audio, either from my iPhone or PC. I'm not tied down by a wire, can still answer calls, and it's harder to get snuck up on with one ear free.

I've always wondered about the sound quality from the perspective of the person on the other end of the line... And never had any any reassurance other than asking the person on the other side. I too have tried dozens of different bluetooth headsets, best to date has been the ICON. The main complaints I had with that model was that the sound would never quite get loud enough (while listening to media, or while in a phone conversation). And also that it would randomly dissconnect and the sound quality on the other end diminished after about a year of use... eventually to the point where they could no longer hear me at all. So it's time for it to be replaced. I already ordered the ERA, and should be recieving it in the mail shortly. But I wanted to thank you for taking the time to post this video and your review. I found it very helpful, and I am now even more excited about getting the ERA

I also would like to just say thank you for taking the time to make this nice video review. These reviews take time and I'm sure that i'm not the only one that appreciates it but would just like to take a little time to say thank you for taking your personal time to do this.

I appreciate your review. I'd like to add that when I received my ERA, I got in my car & turned up the music loud & called my wife. She could hear me, but not any music, even when I mentioned it to her. I couldn't hear her very well, though. Too much ambient sound got in through the earbud. I changed all that - and got rid of the ear hook- with a custom molded
sound blocking earpiece made by Custom-Ears.com They sent me a mold kit for my ear, which I made & dropped in the postage paid box. About 10 days later, this little strangely shaped thing with a hole in it came back. I took off the ERA earbud, inserted the tip of the ERA in the hole, (perfect fit) and put it in my ear... Perfection! Because it's molded to my ear, it was a perfect fit, and it blocked out sound so well - and channels the sound into my ear canal - I was able to turn the volume down to about 2 (rather than full blast) and hear in the noisiest environment. It holds the ERA securely in my ear with no 'ear hook' for hours on end. Go check them out, www.custom-ears.com you will never go back to the uncomfortable ear-bud/wire combo again!

Thanks for pointing out this excellent point (did I just type that?); custom molded ear buds are the best. Best fit, best noise cancellation, and you feel like a Secret Service agent. I got them for my ERA and a couple pair of better quality ear buts from averysound.com.

If you get another pair consider getting molds made at an audiologist. It costs about $30 but they are deeper and will probably fit even better. And, at least with averysound, once the molds have been made they can be reused several times.

Thanks again,

Bob

Yes, the impressions may be re-used for up to 30 days unless you request them back, then they can be used as many times as you'd like. Custom-Ears.com has the lowest prices I've seen and their customer service is excellent. Give them a call, the number is on the site.

Thanks for the text+video review, though I do have one question: where do you find the FF and rewind control? I've read the user's manual and didn't see any mentions about this...would you plz elaborate further on this part? I desperately need a single-ear bluetooth earphones w/ FF and rewind control. It's so hard to find one on the market for now.

Sounds to me like you work for custom-ears.com or may even be the owner. $75 is a little steep for the earbuds. It's near the cost of the headset.

Hi DB.

I don't work for them, let alone own the company. I have, however, paid for two pair plus one additional of their ear buds.

Their price, especially considering the quality they provide, is very reasonable for custom made earbuds.

Regards,

Bob
