It's Alex Pareene, for crying out loud!,
This review is from: The Rude Guide To Mitt (Kindle Edition)
I won't read the book. Alex Pareene is the reason why. Anyone who reads Salon.com knows the hate-filled, over-the-top ridiculousness from this so-called "writer." He makes a living lying, speculating, and exaggerating. The first reviewer called it "snarky." Pareeene is worse than snarky, always. He reminds one of a 7th grade mean girl verbally bullying those she has picked for her scorn. Just pathetic for a grown man, and I think one of the reasons few people can take Salon seriously anymore, paying a guy like this for this kind of trash. If you want truth, you have to go somewhere else. Just go to Salon.com and Alex Pareene archives and pick any half dozen of his hateful articles on anything to the right of Obama and you'll see that he can be given no credibility. Today's article in Salon from Pareene is how the Secret Service's Colombian Prostitution mess is really the fault of the culture of conservatism - the evil Right - and even manages to get some jabs in on Sarah Palin and other right-wingers for good measure. Just ridiculous stuff, but par for the course for this writer.

It doesn't really change the point: you didn't read the BOOK, therefore you can't review it. I've read lots of Neal Stephenson books. I haven't read his latest. I can't go write a review and say, "I haven't read this book, but I'll bet it has a really crappy ending because all Neal Stephenson books have really crappy endings."

"I won't read the book. [the author] is the reason why."
So why review it, then? Makes anything else you wrote highly doubtful--especially your claims to have read other work by Alex Pareene.

Forbes Magazine (not exactly a left-wing wag rag eh?) described him as "Ferociously smart" when he was named one of their "30 obvious rising stars in media" in December 2011.
I think what bothers most conservatives is that his writing is extremely funny, always right on, heavy on sarcasm, actually TRUTHFUL and FACT BASED, but never "hateful". Here's his loving sendoff from Gawker when he moved to Salon.
"His writing is hysterical, his voice is unique, and his political mind is finely tuned into the idiocies and hypocrisies of our crumbling democracy." I totally agree!
Below it a link to the Salon article about the Secret Service, "The politicization of the Secret Service scandal", that is touted as an example of Alex's "hate-filled, over-the-top ridiculousness" or possibly his " lying, speculating, and exaggerating."
The gist of this article is that the boorish and irresponsible behavior of a group of eleven US Secret Service agents, while in Columbia doing advance work for a pending trip by President Obama, has been taken up by the Presidents political adversaries in an attempt somehow pin the blame for this on his administration. Pareene goes on to give SPECIFIC and ACCURATE details regarding some attackers and their attacks (Chuck Grassley, Rep. Peter King, NRO's Mark Steyn). His "jab" at Sarah Palin ?? --- it's a reference to A STATEMENT SHE MADE attributing the cause of this scandal to the "culture" Obama has created at the White House!
Read the article!! It's not long, ... no hate, no lying nor exaggeration ... and NOWHERE is there ANY suggestion that any "culture of conservatism" was to blame?? Presumably OnTheBeat has not bothered to actually READ this article either? Apparently he's just combined the title with his Pareene fantasies and invented what it must have said? Similar to the way conservative acquire their views on evolution, global climate change, pregnancies resulting from rape, etc. Sometimes reality is just too much for them?
May be time for a new moniker for OnTheBeat since he seems to be a Off a Beat or two in his assessment of Pareene?
Keep'm coming Alex!! We Love You!

Walks Dog at Night says:
This is not a review, since, one, he has not read the book, and two, actually denigrates OTHER writings by the author. At some length.
This being the case, I am requesting it be removed.
