This review is from: Worst Impressions: a Romantic Comedy (Paperback)Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is my favorite romance--hands down. But, don't be fooled, Jane Austen lovers. K. L. Brady's plot and themes may be the same as Jane's,but the characters are all her own. You will learn to love them for who they are, and you will know they have a spirit of their own. The voices are fresh and relevant. Not as predictable as you'd think being a remake of a classic. As I read this book, I could see how this book would be an awesome introduction for today's teen readers to the original novel and its themes of love, prejudice, pride, and redemption.
If you love Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and aren't upset that there is a West Side Story, I think you can get passed the idea of this book being an adaptation.
I loved it for what it was. I love complex, sly language that I have to decipher and contemplate in depth, but sometimes all I want is to experience something human... something real, something funny, something deep. I felt that reading this novel. Thanks, K. L. Brady.
