This review is from: Rise to Greatness: Abraham Lincoln and America's Most Perilous Year (Hardcover)
I was hesitant as there are so many books out there on this subject, but gave it a try. I loved this book and am sorry I am done with it. I feel like I have just had a long discussion with Lincoln about the early course of the war. You get such a feeling of the thinking involved here, and such a unique perspective on just about everything. I can only say that you will not at all be disappointed with this book. It is amazing that everyone thought that they were so much smarter than Lincoln, yet he is the one we now respect and honor. This book shows his flaws as well as his strong points. To follow his progression on what to do with slavery is just fascinating.
