I like Tim Ferriss. He's definitely crazy, but his writing style cracks me up and I admire his intense passion. This book has some great ideas and insights and a certain coolness factor in its extremeness.
There are some approaches I have been and will be experimenting with in my own diet and exercise programs so the value is definitely there. That said, some are too extreme for me (taking ice baths) and are really only for the "all-out" type of person.
I give people the same advice about reading this book as I do with Tim's The Four-Hour Workweek: His ideas may be a bit radical for your taste, but most can be modified to a lesser extent. He makes you challenge your assumptions and consider a very different approach which is worth tons if you are open-minded enough to take a hard look at your current habits and behaviors. Change is difficult but hearing about a crazy yet successful approach is sometimes the kick in the pants we need to realize just how crazy some of your own "normal" approaches are.
I give Tim credit for using himself as a human guinea pig for the sake of being able to offer the rest of us an alternate way forward. There's a lot of detail in this book that I suspect may be lost on most people but he does give several options for skipping the detail which I also liked. For those who are interested and take the time to consider how they might take his advice and work with it to achieve their own goals, it'll be a valuable resource.
