FPS On The Go,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Call of Duty: Black Ops - Declassified - PlayStation Vita (Video Game)
Okay So COD Black Op Declassified is definitely a COD game.
Controls: Just as you would have figured with the idea that the Vita has two analog sticks, the aiming in this game is sweet. Aside from the fact that the sensitivity is a little touchy at the beginning of the game as you may have to lower it. I enjoy the fact that you can aim the grenades with you finger on the screen, but it also makes it really hard to be able to aim up or down as you are aimed in whatever direction you were facing when you removed your thumb from the right analog stick. The idea of melee being activated by touching the touch screen can be slightly cumbersome for the same reasons. All in all the game is average COD controls aside from that, along with using the back touch screen to hold your breath for snipr shots.
Story: The games story involves something of an idea of missions that the US goverment never really talked about over the series of the games. It's based around small bite sized missions, idealy for gaming on the go. And I would say it's a great idea..... If I actually had a clue where the story was going or whatever was meant to go on behind the main objectives of missions. That's pretty much how bland it can be, which is a huge downfall, but considering you are trying to get an FPS fix on the go and probably don't have time for too immersive a story it's decent. My problem with it is the infrequency of checkpoints during the missions. Most missions are based on time and accuracy amongst other things, but if you are killed mid way through the mission it's back to square one. Which is upsetting after your 8th attempt to pass a mission on veteran and watching the same cut scene over and over.
Multiplayer: The exact thing you'd expect. The character Models are not as powerful as they are on the console prethern as to be expected. But you do get a healthy dose of killing people online and it's just as great. The missions like team deathmatch are chopped down into about 10 minute sessions with 4 on 4. Which is surprisingly engaging. A few maps from the COD games make appearences such as the Nuke Town level. The only downfall to this particular way of playing is that the Maps have been reduced in size, which makes it difficult to play a good deathmatch when you are constantly spawning next to the enemy.
All In All: This game surprised me. In a way it made a decent jump to the portable Vita, and it's definitely a must have for Vita owners and FPS enthusiasts looking for a quick thrill when they are on the move. As explained the game has it's downfalls in many of the same area's that it has strengths. I woud strongly recommend this to anyone with a Vita. I would not suggest that a Vita be bought specifically for this game though , unfortunate as that may be.

Great review. This is a good game to have a trigger grip for your Vita. I liked resistance but this blows it out of the water, COD on the go is so sweet

I agree, great review. I actually liked Resistance Burning Skies but the multiplayer on Black Ops Declassified is a lot more fun eventhough the maps feel a bit tiny. I think a lot of people out there thought it would play exactly the same as the console versions or expected a lot. To me, it's close to the core gameplay of the console version, just taylored for the vita. The only thing I would love for the psvita to do would be rumble. Games feel a bit weird without that rumble on psvita lol.

Seriously, you're the first guy I know that actually likes Resistance Burning Skies at all. Everyone else I know say it's total crap by a crap developer.

Personally I actually enjoyed Resistance burning skies as well. I thought the story was relatively atrocious but I found the gameplay to be great. Except for the melee, grenades and the tagging with Bullseye
