Terrible Documentation. No Consistency.
, May 1, 2012
This review is from: Android Wireless Application Development Volume I: Android Essentials (3rd Edition) (Developer's Library) (Paperback)
The examples sighted and the methods used in the book are inconsistent or do not match at all. I attempted to use the sample code as a guide, but very little of resembled what was written in the book. I am not a new, so I made an effort to forge ahead. This book is unusable and could only maybe be leveraged as a guide to accessing other tools and methodologies. The only code that worked was the Hello World splash, everything else never ran. I have used other books for programming resources and they all have some issue, usually some editing error or an updating error, this book doesn't even appear to have been reviewed or edited by the same individuals. Code examples in the book are wildly different than the samples, even if you account for short handing(not listing log code in book, skipping commenting), it was stylistically different. Would never recommend this book. It was a total waste of time, effort and money. I wish that I could return it but it is past 30 days - so a complete loss.
