Looks great - lasted 5 months,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: FRYE Men's James Wingtip Lace-Up Boot (Apparel)
First of all, I love Frye shoes and boots. I have worn them for years. I love the quality and the fit. I saw these shoes on Amazon and knew I would like them. When they arrived they lived up to my expectations - they looked great, and they fit perfectly - exactly as advertised and exactly as expected.
But, within 3mo, the leather sole started to pull away from the shoe. I took to a cobbler who re-stitched and glued them. Within 2 months the entire leather sole under the toe of the shoe had completely pulled away, and I am frustrated because I do not want to keep paying to have them 'fixed'.
These shoes are not 'inexpensive' - if they were I would not bother writing this review. I expected a high quality from them for two reasons: 1) The Frye name and my history with this brand, and, 2) the price is at a level where I feel that I should expect a quality product.

This complaint could be lodged against pretty much any leather soled shoe. I hate, hate, hate leather soles for this reason, they wear down so quickly. Good new is that Frye has rubber soled wingtips on Zappos. They last a hellofa lot longer than these puppies.

Same thing happened to mine after 1 year. $80 to replace half-soles on $200 shoes. Disappointing.

Frye has a 2 year warranty. Save your receipt (or order confirmation, in this case) and contact the company directly.
