Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kodak EasyShare Sport C123 12 MP Waterproof Digital Camera (Gray) (Electronics)
I bought this camera specifically for a trip to Cabo. It took some good pictures on my fishing trip but water penetrated the body in 2 feet of water later. I have never written a review on Amazon but was moved to do so by my experience with this camera. I was able to access the pictures from my card after drying it but the camera is now worthless. This camera may be okay if you treat it as "water resistant" but I would not submerge it.

Next time some electronic thing gets wet you can put it in a bowl of rice and the rice should help draw the water from the electronic.

You probably didn't have the door closed tight or something like that.

Scott, sorry but that is the worst reply to a comment I have ever seen or something like that.

I just used mine today for a snorkeling trip and wasn't deeper than three feet and wasn't even under water ten minutes before it malfunctioned and went completely dead

I purchased this camera for my 5 year old son. We have used the camera for 3 years. It has been dropped, thrown, left outside, underwater, in a hot tub, pool, creek, rain, salt water... you name it, it's survived it. I would recommend giving it another chance. It's possible you got a hold of a flawed device, which could happen with anything. Also, I would suggest checking the camera in a bathtub or something before you trust it with your very valuable vacation moments. I've tried different brands from kodak, canon, nikkon... for everyday use I prefer my canon but when it comes to underwater, kodak came out on top of all the others. I was surprised lol

Sprinkle, I am glad that you had a better experience with your camera than I did. I have no plans to purchase another underwater camera at this time but appreciate your comment and I guess it is possible that I just got a bad one that did not seal properly. If I do purchase another I will definitely test it in a tub or pool before vacation, that is a great idea. Thanks for a helpful comment.

This happened to me too! I am going to try to see if Kodak will stand behind their product.

I have fully submerged it in water to the bottom of a pool and in the ocean and have had no problems out of it I have gotten some really cool underwater photos that I would not have gotten without it. I am sorry you had a bad experience with it but I would totally buy another one if mine were to go out.

I bought this camera three years ago and haven't had a problem with it. I didn't actually buy it to use underwater, just to take kayaking and be able to handle it if it did get wet. I used it once underwater, took some pics of fish and it worked fine, never had any problems. It takes great photos!
