Disappointed in price hike!,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Luvs Premium Stretch Diapers with Ultra Leakguards Diapers, Size 5, 168 Count (Health and Beauty)
I am very disappointed in the price hike on the luvs diapers. They are identical to the diapers they had before, other than 18 more in the package. I can understand an increase in price since there are more diapers in the package, but its a big increase. Here are some round about figures to get an idea: These numbers are based on the size 5 pack.
The old pricing was: $35.05 before S&S and after was $24.53 and you got free 2 day prime shipping for 150 count box
The new pricing is: $42.99 before S&S and after is $30.09 and free 3-5 day shipping for a 168 count box. (you can get free 2 day if you drop one of the 15% discounts)
To sum it all up, that is an increase of 23% before S&S and 20% increase after S&S for only an 8% increase in diapers received.
I can go to the store now and buy them on sale with coupons at about the same price, if not better. I stopped looking at diaper deals in store because the deal was so good on here, but with the new pricing on the same product, I will be looking at the store ads again. I think luvs is a great product, but disappointed in the price. And no more amazon diaper codes either. Hmmmmm....

where does it say that you get two day shipping only if you drop one of the !5% discounts? I see that no where. You still get free two day shipping with both 15% discounts regardless of the price increase. Am I seeing things here?

When I purchased mine on the 17th at my total screen, there was a link to click on that said (why didnt I qualify for prime shipping?) I clicked on it and it states:
Why didn't I qualify for Prime shipping?
The Subscribe & Save program offers participants great benefits like a 15% discount, convenience of recurring deliveries and a no-commitment cancellation policy with free standard shipping. If you need an item faster, Prime Two-Day and One-Day shipping are available for eligible items, but the 15% Subscribe & Save discount will not apply.
Can I get my Subscribe & Save items faster?
If you need an item faster, Prime Two-Day and One-Day shipping are available for eligible items on the product detail page if you have 1-Click ordering turned on, or at checkout, but the 15% Subscribe & Save discount will not apply.
Is it just me!? I used to love the 2 day shipping, it was so fast! That was one of the great perks as well. If I forgot and didnt realize until I was getting low, I could still get them in time with just as much savings. I got mine 6 days after I placed my order on the 23rd.

Yep you are correct on that. Its so dispapointing. I am so discouraged now from buying the diapers and wipes on Amazon because of this. I'll probably get a better deal at BJ's, which I have a membership to.

I have noticed that they have decreased the price a bit on the Luvs diapers. I am very happy with this decrease and am hoping that it will stay. Im almost tempted to order more now instead of waiting until I need them.

I am so relieved they dropped the price. I can now continue to buy luvs for my little one. I may be a little disappointed about the lack of free 2 day shipping - Unless I take off one of the two %15 discounts - but it's a tradeoff I can live with. So I'll order the diapers a few days earlier. I'm back to being a happy amazon mom.

A Citizen says:
Yea, I'm not sure what the big deal is with losing the 2-day shipping for a subscribe and save item, at least once you get your original shipment. All you need to do is change your order so it gets shipped a couple days earlier and you can forget about it until you need to change to the next size. For me, one box a month has been about right but I can adjust on the fly if it seems like I'm going to have too few or too many. For me, it's nice not having to make a run to BJ's every month to get diapers.

I was wondering if there was a price increase? I thought I was going crazy and a total bummer about the coupon codes...it seems like Amazon is using the old bait and switch routine....no free 2 day ship, price hike on diapers, and no more promo codes. I can do better with coupons and sales at stores than the deals on here. Maybe Amazon will realize their greediness is going to lose them a lot of business...especially from this former Amazon mom.

Its not a big deal, it was just a nice perk to the diaper deals. I just wanted to point it out to those that really enjoyed that perk. I was one of them, because sometimes, I would forget to order them in time if I had to cancel my subscribe and save option because of a size increase, or for whatever other reason.

MN Mom says:
right? the 2-day shipping was suppose to be part of the http://amazon.com/mom program to help with getting diapers/wipes to you faster. i guess when they say, they have the authority to change their terms at any time, they mean it. bummer. once my prime membership is up, i have no plans on renewing. too bad amazon - you 'had' a good thing going!
