This review is from: Surviving Your Stupid, Stupid Decision to Go to Grad School (Paperback)
I got my Ph.D. 8 years ago at a very reputable program in my field, and this book left me helpless with laughter. Spot-on humor that's so funny it hurts. I LOVE that another reviewer said this was shelved in the Grad School section rather than in the humor section, that is PERFECT!
Seriously people, don't go to grad school thinking that it will be a fun or fulfilling experience. Really.

Paige McAdoo says:
Maybe you undertook the wrong field of study. I throughly enjoyed writing my dissertation and I was treated very well by my director. Writing and studying opened new vistas for me, so it was well worth it from that point of view. Maybe I was an exception. What was difficult was the administration of the program. It was quite bad and I complained to the University. The other issue has been not getting steady work after I finished. For me these were the worst part of getting a PhD.
