Still EDITED, Not all extras from original DVD release are here.,
This review is from: Saludos Amigos / Three Caballeros (DVD)
If you already have the two individual older DVD releases, there is no reason to purchase this new single disc release.
If you don't have the original individual releases, you may still want to get those as the original theatrical trailers included there were NOT put on this new release.
The Three Caballeros (Disney Gold Classic Collection)
Saludos Amigos (Disney Gold Classic Collection)
And YES, THE SAME CENSORSHIP HAPPENS HERE. THEY ARE EDITED.
A Side by side comparison does show some slight improvement in picture sharpness, and the audio has been re-mixed for surround sound, but it is not a full restoration. Obviously this is a great price, and hard to pass up if you do not already own these.
The feature films themselves fall a little short of being classics, they are best viewed as historical travelogues.

Thanks for letting us know the new release is edited too. I wish Disney would not cave into this sort of thing.

Thanks to Mr. Mulaer for his review and I also agree with Mr. Know It All.
I will keep my old copies. Saved money this time
What I cannot understand is why Disney keeps editing??
I guess if Disney re-releases "Melody Time" the "Pecos Bill" cartton will still be edited!!!
If other studios can release unedited (Ex. Woody Woodpecker Vol. 2), then WHY CAN'T DISNEY????

Thanks for the review. I too will not be purchasing this movie now. Its a shame, but I would rather not watch it then watch a "censored" version. I am always expanding my Disney DVD collection, but this will not be added to it unless they release it uncensored. I cannot give into Disney trying to censor everything. I love them, but I will always boycott anything they try to censor. That is why I have not bought make mine music or melody time!

Can someone please indicate what exactly has been censored from this release that was in the original? Thanks!

This censorship is really absurd. I mean seriously, if kids saw Goofy jumping off of the sears tower would they follow? Besides, the 1949 classic 'Donald's Happy Birthday' showed the scene of Donald stuffing his nephews mouths with cigars even when shown on TV. Plus (just to name several) the scene where Pinocchio is shown taking a big drag and getting stoned can still be seen intact and one of the crows from Dumbo is shown with a cigar in his mouth is intact as well.

I contacted Disney about it. The number to call is on the disc. I spoke to Consumer Relations/Technical Support. The woman I spoke w/ was extremely nice and I informed her that I was not pleased to receive a copy that was edited like this. That I would like to exchange mine for a copy that was unedited (or have in a format that was not edited). She had me put on hold for about eight minutes. After she got back to me - she mentioned she talked to a few different groups of people (good). This was an edit on purpose because of the cigarette (obviously!) & that as much as they sympathize & would send me an unedited DVD copy that all of the copies are edited). I asked about having a special copy transferred from the master (35mm)? They can't really do that for a special case only unless A LOT of people wanted this. She said if I had my receipt or didn't have it - I could exchange it for a different DVD or get a refund. The suck thing is that I forgot to mention if all the DVD copies are edited I'd like to have a new copy transferred from the uncensored laserdisc. I suggest that if you want it contact them & request this. Maybe if they hear from enough people they'll consider it.
