5.0 out of 5 stars Great Camera, December 28, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bell and Howell DNV16HDZ-BKFull 1080p HD 16MP Infrared Night Vision Camcorder, 10x Optical Zoom and 3-Inch LCD (Black) (Electronics)
The night vision on this camera is amazing! the camera is light weight and perfect size to hold in your hand. Only thing is when you zoom in it takes a moment to adjust. But otherwise its awesome! I would say if your considering buying this do it. Oh and also the memory card does hold two but only one regular size card and one micro card.

Nice to see B&H actually listened to all the negative feedback of the 2 previous models. I have a question for the person who owns this, how does the audio sound? It would be very helpful if any owner can upload to YouTube the RAW output video from this camcorder, normal light and then night vision. Is there a mechanical switch to go from normal to night mode? Usually a filter (IR IR block) has to be mechanically removed from he lens objectives to do this.

If the IR LED is a high enough wattage, it will work great. They say a range of 15 feet, which would be perfect.

Kyle, can you please upload a test RAW video (night vision and daytime) to a youtube channel? that would be greatly appreciated. Let us know how this camera works out for you.

Robert, I have used external IR lights because even a high end Sony doesn't give quality IR lights in their cameras. Try using a Phantom Pro IR light, they will help light up to 30-35ft and the Floods will double that (outside) with about a 15ft wide spread. I get those from Ghost Stop dot com. I left one on by mistake and it worked for about 12 hrs using one 9 volt battery (good to know). I also turn off (in the menu system) the built it IR lights on my cameras now to save battery power fwiw.

Also for audio, I find having even a cheaper external mic (if this unit has a mic port) to work really nice over any built-in type but make do with what you have so I understand that also.

I hope this helps out a bit since I'm also wondering the quality of said camera, I would think it would be better than using a dvr type night camera. I've not yet been able to see solid night footage from a dvr even within close range...

thanks Artful Dodger. I use IR/UV external lights on all my night vision camcorders already. They do work great. I am considering adding to my crew this B&H camcorder, that is why I am asking any owner to upload video samples.

It didn't look too promising, especially for paranormal investigating.
