2.0 out of 5 stars Seriously Squeaky Shoes, April 12, 2013
This review is from: adidas Originals Men's Samba Soccer-Inspired Sneaker (Apparel)
Length:: 0:31 Mins

I love the style of these shoes, and I've owned them before. But they've changed the material, and now they squeak really loudly. You might not think it's a big deal, but this video shows just how squeaky they are. The Sambas in this video were purchased in March 2013, and were worn for over 20 miles of walking before filming this video.

I've read tips from other reviewers who were able to reduce the squeaking using lotion or vaseline on the tongue (the primary target). I'll try this, but should that really be necessary? I was hoping the squeaking would go away after a break-in period, but no such luck.

The sound goes away in about 1-2 months, depending on how much you wear them. It's the sound of leather rubbing against leather. You won't be disappointed with the shoes in the long term.

leather doesn't squeak against itself. vinyl does! must be cheap payless vinyl shoes.

Wow that's the worst sound I have ever heard. I remember when I bought some dress up shoes and they made that sound, just rubbed some lotion on it and it went away completely. Also I just googled the squeaky problem of this shoe in particular and everyone is fixing it with oil, vaseline, wax etc. Im about to buy me a pair cause I really like the style, Im prepapred to having to put lotion to soften the material.

I've worn these shoes for years now and I always get the squeaky sound as well when they are new but never as bad it sounds in the video. I agree with the previous comment, the sounds will go away after you've used them for a while.

I found baby powder to be effective in reducing the squeakiness.

Wow I just bought a pair of the classic version of these shoes. I seriously do not want spongebob shoes to arrive the mail.

wow that is bad. I bought the same pair but has no issues though. Maybe it's your socks rubbing on the shoes? I wear cotton socks.
