Do NOT watch the trailer...,
This review is from: Dream House (DVD)
I hope you haven't read Amazon's editorial review either since they are both spolier-heavy. I unfortunately have seen the trailer. After watching it thought that the movie might be rather interesting but then realized while watching the movie with a friend who had also seen the trailer that the trailer gave away some very important facts about the movie which takes away much of the suspense. If you are one of the lucky few who hasn't seen the trailer and if you haven't read Amazon's review but are interested in the movie for whatever reason but want to know something about it before watching it then let me tell you that this would fall in the suspense/thriller genre...If you haven't seen the trailer and want to know a bit more about the movie without wanting to reveal a bit too much I'll just say that the trailer gives away who Peter Ward(a suspected murderer and potential danger to the protagonist, Daniel Craig, and to his family)is and how to find him. One thing that might put off some people is that they may find a basic fact about the movie hard to believe. While rating this movie I wasn't quite sure how to rate it. It does for sure deserve more than one star because of the cast and the acting and I still found some things about the movie interesting. I just wish I hadn't seen the trailer which kind of it killed the movie for me...

I hate it when they put spoilers in the trailer, I think they want people to go see the movie so bad that thier willing to give away plot twist in the trailer to make it seem more intruiging. I will definately not watch the trailer for this one, thanks for the heads up.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. My mother saw the movie and she liked it. I saw with my girlfriend and we didn't enjoy it so much beacuse if you see the trailer you already know about 80% of the movie. If you've seen the trailer stay away from this movie for a good while and hopefully what you've seen will fade from your memory

Anyone who thinks they know the film from watching the trailer is mistaken. The trailer does reveal an important plot point, but it's not entirely what the film is about. It is a love story, and a story about a man facing his fears. I thought it was quite lovely.

Of course, the trailer doesn't reveal EVERYTHING but the movie falls in the suspense/thriller genre and the trailer reveals something that isn't revealed in the movie until it's halfway over taking away much of the suspense that one is supposed to feel.

The fact that it's a plot point revealed in the first half in the film - not at the end - should give folks a clue that watching the trailer doesn't give away the whole film. Not saying that you personally think it does, but other reviewers have suggested that. There is a lot more to the story than just that one plot point.

I am so happy I read your review 1st and stopped there and read nothing else, and skipped the trailer, before viewing the movie. Actually, this was an interesting movie, as we didn't know what to expect, and I must say that your review of actual movie is spot on.
There is nothing worse than reading reviews that fail to reveal "spoiler alert" at the start so as not to ruin it for others. Thank you for being mindful of that - you really gave an excellent review, and I agree it's about a 3-3.5 star movie, but very much worth watching!
