My favorite so far,
This review is from: Transformers: Age of Extinction (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD) (Blu-ray)
When I read the first reviews of this movie I largely ignored them. As it being a Michael Bay film (probably one of the most hated directors of all time by critics) I just assumed business as usual. I know what I'm getting into when I see a Michael Bay film. It's going to big, brash, and painfully over the top. And most of the time it works. I enjoyed TF1 and TF3 (we'll not bring up TF2), but AOE is my favorite so far.
The cast is solid and likable (Mark Wahlberg being a great replacement as a main character). The concept of the auto-bots being hunted down by black-ops military made for good story telling and a really interesting twist for the Transformers franchise. Fantastic CGI sequences, plenty of giant robot fighting, John Goodman lending his voice to Hound, and Dinobots. I know many people will despise this movie and that's fine, but when it comes to entertaining summer blockbusters, Michael Bay delivers consistently.
The only reason I gave this film four instead of five stars is because, as with the first three films, the dialogue is subpar and the humor can feel little excessive, if not forced at times.
Glad I saw it.
