I loved this book. Margo Berdeshevsky's passionate and honest engagement with self and world make her work stunning, wide-ranging and compassionate--these poems will awaken you, take you far, & bring you home to the blessed and brutal place we all live. In this book, which seems almost to be a prayer unprayed, a song--half sacred, half profane--to the longing for peace and love we all feel, she strikes a rare and heartrending balance between the sorrows and blessings of knowledge, of experience, of love, of body. Her voice, lyric and full of arresting delicacy, has a dramatic muscle rare in a poet of such delicacy. There are echoes of Keats, Herbert, English ballads, Shakespeare, even Whitman, here. This is a big book, full of a broad and limpid mind and heart and soul.
