1.0 out of 5 stars MP is made for console not PC, November 10, 2010
This review is from: Call of Duty: Black Ops - PC (Video Game)
Besides the other dealbreaker issues of lag, retro 1990's graphics, bad animations.. The WORST dealbreaker IMO is the maps are Clearly MADE for a console NOT PC! The maps are very very small with very dense narrow shooting lanes to create a labyrinth wackamole claustrophobic feel. This is done by the devs. on purpose to cater to console thumb-stick controllers. Enemies that are CLOSE up and in a narrow field of vision are easier to see and hit with a thumbcontroller. But this all comes at the expense of PC/Mouse users. There is no aiming involved or skill on the PC side. just be looking in the direction you are restricted to traveling and there is the enemy-click. Previous games like cod4 offered a fair balance in map size and design but Black OP's is 100% made for a thumbstick in your face TV venue.

Thinking of switching to PC platform from 360 and found this informative. Have never seen a negative review mentioning the controls except that the console is lacking compared to the PC.

wow, i can't believe this game got soooo many 1 stars. is it literally that bad for the PC? i was thinking something with DRM since most people frown on that here on amazon, but when i saw all the issues and stuff, it made me glad i didnt dish out to pre-order this game.

Really- weird being as how it's a available on PC and is a PC game. Go back to your fan boy 360 + PS3.

Actually, it's more like PC Gaming died a long time ago, but is on the rebound as Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo all try to extract as much value as possible out of the now dinosaur consoles. PCs are cheaper than ever for gaming. A Radeon 4850HD can be picked up on eBay for $60-$70 which will play Black Ops at MAX when paired with a decent quad core processor (the PS3 can barely run the game in lower than 720P). My mainstream laptop (with decent graphics mind you) blows away 360/PS3 performance and my desktop is in an entirely different ballpark in comparison. Consoles are stuck in directx9 limbo while PC Gamers are experiencing far superior graphics in Direct 10 and 11 games.

The Kinect and Move is the future of console gaming... and that's just fine. I have a 360 and it's now more or less a Dance Central Arcade box.
