A master class in rock and roll,
This review is from: Revival (Audio CD)
What a tonic to ears curdled by the sounds of Timbaland and Swizz Beatz that assault from all angles. This is a deceptively simple album. At first blush, it almost sounds like a guy gathered in the garage with some buddies to toss off some effortless tunes. Then it sinks in that it only sounds that easy because John's that good. It's amazing what a master can do with guitars, bass, drums and background vocals. Track after track of immediately enjoyable, infinitely listenable rock and roll. I've loved all of Fogerty's solo albums - even the much maligned Eye of the Zombie. I can't pick a favorite. But this one's damn good. Fogerty makes a very strong case for the idea that old guys do it better. If you've been wanting to kill your radio, buy it this instead.
