I am an avid reader of Moore. Let me say right up front that this is by no means the best of his books. It seems to have much the taste of Tom Robbin's Jitterbug Perfume without being quite as funny or edgy. It is a perfectly good read, but I was not drawn into it as I was on some earlier stuff like the S.F. Vampire books. Perhaps I expected too much and just assumed that the passage of time meant it would be a better book than the earlier offerings. If you are new to Moore, explore some of the earlier things, they seem more fun to me. Don't write him off if this book seems so-so to you. He really is an amazing writer.
