I love it when something great gets even better!,
This review is from: Introducing Hope Waits (MP3 Music)
Several years ago I bought Hope Waits' debut cd based on an Amazon recommendation. I found it to be one of the best purchases I've made from this website. This young lady's voice and style captured my attention from the first few notes and the recording has held my attention through countless plays.
Hope's voice is sultry, steamy, smokey, and smooth with just the right amount of raspy edge when it's needed. Her interpretations of "I'll Be Satisfied", "Yesterday's", and "Come Rain or Shine" are unique enough that standard versions pale in comparison. I've never smoked in my life, but Hope's cover of "Cigarettes and Coffee" makes me wish I was the one sitting at that table at a quarter to three. I was unfamiliar with the tune "Ring Them Bells" until this recording, but have since found other versions and have decided that the one on this recording is superb.
The original recording also includes three self-penned and mostly autobiographical songs "Fortune Teller", "The Ballad of Judith Anne" and "Ignatius" which fit in wonderfully with the other material proving that Hope's skills extend beyond her impressive vocal talent.
And now through the addition of two new great tunes -- "Heavies" and "I'll Be Home Tomorrow" -- the package that was already terrific as the "Hope Waits" compact disc has been made even better as a digital release "Introducing Hope Waits". If this download is truly your introduction to Hope Waits you'll soon be yearning as I've been for her next release.
