Hooray for Amazon Prime Videos,
This review is from: The Edge (Amazon Instant Video)
Don't know how I missed this excellent movie until now, and seeing it for free was sweet. As an outdoorsman I seek out survival movies and this was satisfying. Seeing neophytes think their way out danger was entertaining. I read reviews that give the bear all the credit but I thought all the main actors did a great job. The scenery of course was spectacular. Again, thanks Amazon for the free show.

Absolutely, all things free are good. I just got a coupon for free Breathe Rite Nose Strips and I was thrilled too. And, of course, the actors in this movie are good, they are two of Hollywood's finest. But, anyone who saw this film and thinks it is a good film, has absolutely no understanding of what makes a good film. Doesn't stop Hollywood from producing big name drivel, which will be appealing to the lowest common denominator of audience.

That was Bart, the Bear. He first appeared as the cub in "The Bear." He was an orphaned grizzly cub rescued by a man who lived in, I believe, Utah.
Bart was featured in several movies. I can't, off the top of my head remember all of them, but he was the bear who was Tristan's "spirit animal" in Legends of the Fall. Bart died quite a while ago, but by the time The Edge was releasaed, he'd become a film animal superstar. That is probably why the critics gushed over him. He really seemed to me a remarkable animal.
When Bart passed, Entertainment Weekly posted a half-page article in his honor. I am not making this up.
I liked this movie too, and tried to find the knife, but can't. I suppose they engraved a fake manufacturer on it.
