Bad UI continues year after year,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Quicken Premier 2013 [Download] [OLD VERSION] (Software Download)
I don't know of any other popular home finance packages, so I am stuck with Quicken. Every time I am forced to upgrade, I hope that the new version will be better. It is always slightly worse. For example, in the previous version, to reconcile a checking or credit card account, you simply clicked the 'Reconcile' button above the register. In the 2013 version, this functionality is hidden under a tiny, unnamed menu with a gear icon, in the corner of the window. (By the way, the font size setting for the register as a whole does not work to make the text smaller.) I also hoped that Quicken would be more intelligent about how it handled company-match inputs to 401Ks, HSAs, etc. It is no better. If your pay amount varies from check to check, you must manually update the company match figure. Since all(?) companies structure their contribution as "X% match, up to Y% of your pay," and have done so for many years, Intuit should incorporate this as an automatic calculation. Quicken's habit of inserting little ads for add-on products like their affiliate credit cards is also very unacceptable for boxed-type software.
