Entertaining, sexy, provocative.,
This review is from: Haunted on Bourbon Street (The Jade Calhoun Series Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
I have to admit that I bought this directly from the author and not on Amazon, but I'm pretty sure the Kindle version is equal in content ;) This book was a very pleasant surprise to me, not an amateurish quest to be published, but a full fledged author waiting to be discovered. I read the book in about 4 sittings as well as another reviewer here, but would have finished it in one if I could! The plot is multifaceted, full of well researched details and surprises. It's a suspenseful romance, heavy on the sexual tension but not overdone and sleazy. The little connections made throughout the book were not only smart and well thought out, but subtle and naturally developed. I'm looking forward to another in the series in December, if the author can find time to write in her busy artist's schedule!

Why would people find this review unhelpful? I just don't get why people bother to vote down reviews that are well written... This review almost makes me want to read the book and I'd never heard of it until now!

L. Burns says:
To answer your question KristyA, it seems like people use the "helpful" button here on Amazon to either agree or disagree with the reviewer. Write a less than glowing review and the fangrls will downvote you regardless of the content of your review. Personally, I wish that Ami would do away with the Yes/No option. Maybe just a 'helpful' button - if you find the review helpful you click; if not then don't click. Maybe there would be less negativity that way?
Anyway, I did read this book and didn't care much for it. There are issues with the character development and the pacing is very uneven. The first person narrative is awkward and overall the writing lacked professional polish. This is not a book that I myself would recommend, but that doesn't mean that I think this reviewer is "wrong" or that this review is unhelpful. It's just one reader's experience, no "right" or "wrong" about it!

After reading this book I completely agree with you L.Burns, both on the idea of a 'helpful' button and on your critique of the book.
